Comfort vs. Looks - Choosing the Perfect Shoes

I love a good looking pair of shoes. The shape, the color, the style, the texture of a shoe was enough to get me running for my debit card. I used to have the idea that I would sacrifice whatever I need to sacrifice to get the perfect shoe. Even if it meant my feet would be screaming at the end of the day I would shove them into those heals or lace up those boots because they looked so good. The question of comfort vs. looks was more of a hypothetical question. Of course, looks would always win.

As I have gotten older, my feet have begun to argue when it comes to comfort vs. looks. Looks is no longer a hands down winner. I have a tug of war between the two. I want to look good, but I also want to feel good while I'm looking good. In this whole struggle I had the misconception that I had to sacrifice one to have the other. In other words, my feet might be killing me, but I'll look good or my feet my feel great but the shoes would be ugly. I began to search for comfortable shoes to see if there was some kind of compromise I could make in order to be able to have it all.

What I discovered was that I didn't really have to make a sacrifice. There are literally thousands of stylish shoes available that are made to support your feet. You can actually have comfort and looks at the same time. If you search for comfortable shoes on the internet, you will find that you have just about the same amount of shoe choices that you would have with their uncomfortable counterparts.

The difference between comfortable and uncomfortable shoes doesn't really have anything to do with style or looks at all. It has more to do with things like support, cushion and the materials that make up the shoes. Who wouldn't choose stylish heals that support your arch and have enough cushioning to protect your feet as you are pounding the pavement? Comfort vs. looks is not even something we have to consider anymore. What we have to do now is to decide just which of the many comfortable, good looking shoes are going to come home with us!
